A SAMPLING OF HAND-CRAFTED BOOK COVERS for 'ALL THE GOOD THINGS COME LAST' by Suki Patrick

Thank you for visiting AZALEA ART PRESS and viewing this sampling of 7.5" x 9.5" hard-bound book covers recently created for Suki Patrick's memoir, ALL THE GOOD THINGS COME LAST, published by AZALEA ART PRESS on August 15, 2010. Each was crafted with archival book-binding materials, including hand-made Japanese covers and Thai endpapers.

When I first met Suki and we began to work on her BIO.GRAPHIA LIFE PORTRAIT, it was an exchange of energy so powerful that at the end of our first session, we both wept together at the joys and sorrows she had experienced. The completion and debut of her book a year later was equally emotional. She had birthed a most beautiful personal narrative and it was a gift to her family and to her female self that no other could have given. It took great bravery, patience and determination to recall events that were sometimes very painful and memories that had long been buried.

At BIO.GRAPHIA, compassionate, empathetic listening is at the very heart of witnessing someone’s life story. When we truly open ourselves to another, a space is created where magical things can happen. Memories appear like beautiful butterflies. Conversations we have long forgotten become crystal clear streams opening into rivers of transformative thought.

When we are encouraged to speak freely, in an atmosphere of trust and non-judgment, our insights flow naturally. Visions and understandings surface that create connections and deep meaning that we may never have acknowledged or explored before. We face and sometimes, if we are fortunate or diligent enough, we release the past. All of these things make the present much more complete, not only for ourselves, but for all those who know and care for us.

In essence, healing begins to take place from the very moment we begin to tell our story. When our hearts connect, everything is possible. And therein lies the real medicine, the true gift of sharing our journeys with each other.

May all your stories be heard and be blessed,
